Knives have been my hobby for over 30 years, but I never truly understood how to make one until I came to AK University. As a collector, you appreciate the finished blade, but you don't really know what goes on behind the scenes to create it. I wanted to learn the fine details of knife making and finally understand the craft from the ground up.
The experience was fantastic. What stood out the most was the grinding process—seeing the fine details, the precision control, and just how much work and skill goes into shaping the steel.
Beyond the technical skills, the shop environment is great—relaxed, chilled out, almost like a museum vibe. Getting to learn directly from Andreas, making a personal connection, and finding a great teacher and friend made the entire experience meaningful.
Whether you want to learn foundational knife making or you’re a collector who wants to truly understand how knives are built, AK University is a great class. I recommend it without question.
